Turn brake testing into a revenue-generating inspection process
Brake repairs are often difficult to sell because customers cannot see braking performance. AutoLine gives the workshop a clear, visual report showing stopping distance, braking efficiency, deceleration behaviour, test validity, and diagnostic context. This helps service advisors explain why brake work is needed and prove the improvement after the repair.
“Selling brake repairs becomes frictionless when you can show a customer a professional A4 report with their actual stopping distance in red, versus the target stopping distance.”
The Workshop Advantage Matrix
| Workshop challenge | AutoLine sales advantage |
|---|---|
| Customer says “my brakes feel fine” | Show actual stopping distance and brake efficiency parameters. |
| Customer doubts repair quote | Provide objective before-test safety evidence. |
| Customer questions whether the repair worked | Run a professional after-test safety verification. |
| Service advisor needs a professional explanation | Provide a branded, client-friendly A4 PDF report. |
| Workshop wants repeat business | Store brake history and compare future tests. |
| Dealership wants buyer confidence | Attach brake report to the used vehicle sales file. |
Where AutoLine fits in the workshop
AutoLine is designed to measure real-world dynamic stopping performance and provide diagnostic context during a controlled brake event. It does not replace every type of statutory, workshop or OEM brake inspection procedure. Instead, it adds a practical road-test-based layer of evidence that helps workshops, dealerships and fleet teams make better maintenance decisions.
ROLLER BRAKE TESTER CLARIFICATION
Use AutoLine as a powerful revenue-generating road test validator. It does not replace stationary pit rollers, but rather documents dynamic suspension pitch, steering yaw, ABS interaction, and real stopping distance under real-world momentum.
The 5-Step Professional Road Test Workflow
Connect
Plug the custom AMTH OBD2 dongle into the vehicle port and mount the tablet.
Test
Execute a controlled, dynamic road-test deceleration stop from 80 km/h.
Capture
The software simultaneously records internal motion sensors and ECU streams.
Analyse
Calculates brake efficiency, verifies throttle-off, and checks system DTCs.
Report
Instantly prints or emails a branded A4 report for billing and safe verification.
What AutoLine Measures During a Brake Test
AutoLine separates physical deceleration metrics from engine diagnostic telemetry for maximum inspection depth.
Physical Brake Performance
- Initial vehicle speed (km/h)
- Stopping distance (meters)
- Stopping time (seconds)
- Average deceleration force
- Peak deceleration force
- Calculated brake efficiency (%)
- Deceleration graph plot
- Speed transition curves
- Pass/fail or advisory rating
- Before-and-after comparisons
OBD2 Diagnostic Context
- VIN auto-registry (supported models)
- Odometer telemetry (where available)
- Correlated ECU vehicle speed
- Live Engine RPM monitoring
- Throttle pedal position (%)
- Calculated engine load (%)
- Engine coolant temperature
- Ambient intake temperature
- Battery / module voltage
- Active & pending system DTCs
- MIL warning status indicator
Honest Disclaimer: OBD2 data availability depends on the vehicle, ECU, protocol support and dongle quality. AutoLine still records physical braking performance using the tablet sensors even if some OBD2 values are unavailable.
Brake Testing with Live OBD2 Vehicle Data
AutoLine streams real-time ECU data directly into the brake testing cycle. This turns the OBD2 connection into a diagnostic validation filter, validating test conditions and helping you advise customers accurately based on raw data.
Telemetry Safe Filter
AutoLine uses live OBD2 telemetry as a validation safeguard, protecting workshop credibility by verifying driver actions and vehicle behavior.
Select Telemetry Scenario:
> CONNECTING OBD2 INTERFACE... OK
> READING AVAILABLE ACTIVE PIDs... Speed, RPM, Throttle, Load, Temps, DTCs
> RUN TEST: Accelerator released at T-0.4s.
> RESULT: VALID TEST. Deceleration is uniform. ECU speed tracks deceleration profile.
Professional A4 Reports for Customer Brake Inspections
AutoLine converts raw sensor telemetry and diagnostic data into clean, branded A4 reports, making safety-related repair justifications simple to explain.

Before-and-After Brake Repair Verification
AutoLine is an invaluable asset when used for before-and-after work audits. Run a diagnostic brake test prior to starting repairs to record faults, carry out mechanical work, and execute a follow-up verification run to prove safety upgrades with objective evidence.
Select Mechanical Wear Profile
Toggle different mechanical failure conditions to visualize their diagnostic stopping footprint.
Seized Caliper Pins & Body Flex
Seized slider pins prevent double-sided caliper clamping force, which twists pads off-axis, flexing the caliper housing and causing partial friction contact.
Eliminate Repair Disputes: Show clients visual, numeric brake metrics that verify replacement necessity with objective brake performance evidence.
Protect Your Reputation: AutoLine documents a dynamic brake verification result for each vehicle before it leaves your shop.

AutoLine vs Traditional Decelerometers
Most generic decelerometers simply log stopping G-forces. NetBrake AutoLine couples stopping performance with live engine telemetry validation.
Traditional Brake Testing
- Measures basic physical stopping forces only.
- No verification of driver actions (e.g., driver throttle pressure).
- Requires manual vehicle info inputs, slow workflow.
- Generates raw, technical numerical slips hard for clients to read.
- No diagnostic context or trouble code scanning.
NetBrake AutoLine V2
- Combines stopping G-forces with live ECU diagnostic telemetry.
- Validates test conditions (automatically checks engine RPM & throttle).
- Supports automatic identification, rapid testing, and cloud upload.
- Generates professional, visual A4 PDF client-friendly reports.
- Integrates automatic system scans to log stored & pending fault codes.
NetBrake AutoLine FAQs
Answers to technical and operational questions regarding the AutoLine system.
No. AutoLine is not intended to replace a full workshop diagnostic scanner. It uses selected OBD2 data to add context to a brake test, validate test execution, and identify visible fault codes that may affect the brake assessment.
Yes. AutoLine still records physical brake performance using the tablet’s internal motion sensors. OBD2 data adds value where the vehicle supports it.
Depending on vehicle support, AutoLine can capture ECU speed, RPM, throttle position, engine load, coolant temperature, ambient temperature, odometer, VIN, MIL status and diagnostic trouble codes.
Standard OBD2 does not guarantee access to ABS wheel-speed or brake-pressure data on every vehicle. ABS-related information depends on the vehicle, ECU support and diagnostic protocol.
AutoLine is designed for workshops, dealerships, fitment centres, used vehicle dealers and fleet maintenance teams working with passenger vehicles, bakkies, SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
Yes. AutoLine is especially useful for before-and-after verification because it can document braking performance before repairs and then show the improvement after brake work is completed.
Yes. Physical, on-site demonstrations are available in Gauteng by appointment for workshops, dealerships, fitment centres, and fleet operators. For operations located outside of Gauteng or international clients, we explicitly offer a live virtual video demonstration. Contact us to schedule yours.
